WHY I BECAME A NATUROPATHIC DOCTOR…

From a very early age, I’ve always known I wanted to be a ‘doctor’.  As I matured through my schooling, I began to crave for a deeper knowledge than what seemed available at conventional medical school.  I wanted to understand the interconnectedness of the body and understand the ‘whys’ and ‘how comes’ of the body.  I had a desire to unwind disease and understand the complexity of how to prevent suffering.

I watched grandparents suffer from poly-pharmacy being passed from one specialist to another.  I couldn’t understand why there wasn’t one overseeing physician who understood it all.

My passion was ignited when I discovered Naturopathic Medicine.  I was giddy with the opportunity to earn an accredited medical degree at a world class Naturopathic Medicine School.  I just had to fly west and leave my future husband for four years, commit to an ungodly number of hours to study, spend all of our extra money flying from coast to coast and immerse myself in the roots of what I believe is the most superior medicine available.  No biggie.

I’ve never looked back since.

FAMILY LIFE

Family first! Shockingly, I live in Dillsburg, the same town I grew up in. My husband and I have two crazy cool kiddos, Owen (16) and Samantha (14). We live beside my parents and 5 min from my in-laws. I don’t imagine myself anywhere else, I feel blessed to be living my dream as a lucky wife,

inspired doctor and crazy mom!

"Dr. Shoemaker is a treasure. Her expertise has helped me manage multiple chronic conditions. I am so thankful for Natural Paths to Wellness, where patients are treated as partners in the process.  THANK YOU!"
