WHY I BECAME A NUTRITIONIST
My parents raised my brothers and I emphasizing the importance of healthy food. My mom was constantly finding new tools for wellness, from supplements to energy work, and testing it all out on me. My dad still grows an incredible herb and vegetable garden.
I am a helper by nature so I knew I wanted to work in a capacity that would allow me to help others improve their lives. I considered going to school for counseling but that didn't feel right. Nutrition, on the other hand, felt perfect for me - the opportunity to connect with others and empower them to improve their health with food - I couldn't believe that was an actual job!
I did the weekend program at the University of Bridgeport in which I drove to Connecticut one or two weekends a month, stayed in a hotel, and drove back home on Sunday night so I could continue living and working in Harrisburg. Sometimes I look back and think how tough that was at times, but I don't regret a single part of it.

THINGS YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT ME
I have a bachelor's degree in Human Resources. It was the perfect undergraduate degree program for me but never worked out as a career.
I love comedy. I listen to stand-up comedy and podcasts by comedians all the time.
I love to dance and dreamed of being one of Janet Jackson's back-up dancers. That panned out as well as a career in Human Resources, but my son and I often have dance parties at home!

I am passionate about understanding others, what motivates them, and how we interact which is what led me to the Enneagram, a personality typing system. I've been studying it for about 5 years and I've never experienced a tool like it to help us understand ourselves and others. In case you're wondering I'm a 2, but you probably already knew that based on the other info about me!
I often wonder why my family can't do quiet things like puzzles! Instead we are often wrestling, playing tag, or just running around. I have to eat well and exercise to keep up with them!
